Insurance in Texas is Important

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Health insurance is an impotant thing to have as is auto insurance.  There are even stiff laws in Texas regarding Auto Insurance. When looking for auto insurance there are 6 separate coverage’s that you will need to consider. Bodily Injury liability is one. This applies to injuries that you or a designated driver may incur from someone else in an accident. You will not want to scrimp on this coverage, medical bills can be very expensive.

PIP or Personal Injury Protection covers you or the drivers and passengers of your vehicle. Property Damage Liability covers your or designated driver damages to someone’s property. This could be a house, car, lamp post, fencing or even a tree.

Collision is typically an added bonus for you. It covers the damage done to your car in the event of a collision, whether your at fault or not. It is normally not a state mandated coverage. The other is Comprehensive Coverage. Is for damage caused by something other then collision such as; theft, animals, weather or falling objects to name a few.

Last but certainly not least is your uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage. This is also a coverage the state does not force you to have, but it ions highly recommended. This insurance will cover you and passengers if you are struck by an uninsured motorist or a victim of hot and run. It will also pick up the slack if the motorist does not have sufficient coverage to cover all damages.

If you have a small company you may find it difficult to afford to offer health insurance benefits to your employees. If you are self employed and you have no employees finding affordable health insurance options for yourself can often be a challenge as well.

Maybe you have a little company with just 2 or 3 employees. Or you are the guy that works for himself by himself in the home office. Could you be the contractor that has no company backing benefits.

Either way it would be a huge financial burden if you had to take time off work and pay all your medical bills in full if you become sick. This is the main reason health insurance is so important. Not for the convenience or prestige! It gives financial security.

There are options for you. The smartest way to look into your options is the world wide web. Research all the many plans , carriers and rates. Decide what your budget is and what you can afford. Explore the pros and cons of individual health insurance.

There are so many carriers and they all have a variety of plans to compete for business. You can find the bare minimum plans to cover you if something major should occur. Or the full package, that covers office visits and prescriptions.

You can even get quotes for small group health insurance. Many carriers offer this option to business with 3-50 employees. This option can be very expensive however since the rate depending on many factors of all in the group including health.

If you can not afford the Group health insurance many carriers will do a list bill for you. You can offer to pay a certain amount for your employees and then they can choose their plan and what they want to spend. The carrier then send one bill to the company and you make deductions accordingly.

When you start searching for health insurance it is not always easy to understand. All the plan lingo can be confusing. Total out of pocket versus deductible does not make sense to many. In this case it is smart to enlist the help of a broker. A broker can walk you through the plans and enrollment process. They can even assist you once you have purchased if questions should arise.

Health Insurance in Texas

Texas Health Insurance has many different names for many different types of coverages. One particular plan that is well-know is the HMO plan, Health Maintenance Organization. What is that? With this type of plan you choose one doctor, and that doctor will become your Primary Car Physician, or your PCP. This is the doctor you will see when you need medical attentions, if they see a need they will transfer you to a specialist. You can not just say,” Hey, I would like to go to a Chiropractor, since my back has been bothering me for a while.” You would have to make an appointment with your PCP, they might prescribe medicine for you, come back in a few weeks and we will go from there. You have to go in a specific order to get certain medical attention. Granted, with this type of Texas Health Insurance you will not pay much out of pocket or have a large deductible to meet each year for specialists.

The Preferred Provider Organization, or PPO, says you can choose any doctor you would like to see. You can refer yourself to a specialist, not you can visit that Chiropractor you have been dreaming about, without having to visit your PCP first. The PPO plan also raises your payment responsibility. You will, more than likely, pay more out of pocket if you choose to sign up for this plan.

Whatever plan you decide to go with it is your decision when you are searching for Texas Health Insurance. Now, if your company offers health insurance, you may not get a choice on which plan you want. Just make sure that ever plan you choose or is chosen for you, you carefully read each page in your policy.
